Abstract

548,235. Cathode-ray tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. June 13, 1941, No. 7501. Convention date, June 25, 1940. [Class 39 (i)] In a cathode-ray tube a concave cathode 33 is mounted on a plate 35 within an anode 28 provided with apertured partitions 36, 37, 47 ; a cross-over of the beam is formed between the partition 36, 37 and a modulator electrode 29 is situated at the cross-over. Insulating rings 43, 44 support the electrode 29, the lead to which passes through a hole in the anode 28. A further anode 30 with apertured partition 50 is carried by an insulating ring 48 on the first assembly and extends into an anode 18 carried by an extension 19 of the envelope 10; the anode 18 has spring fingers bearing on a graphite coating on the envelope and extending towards the fluorescent screen. Two pairs of deflecting plates 20 are supported from the anode 18 the leads 22 from the plates passing terminals 23 in an annular base under the recessed part of the envelope. In a modification a single anode 53, Fig. 4, is used beyond the partition 47 and a target 56 is carried by a mica disc 55 from arms 54. Reference is made to U.S.A, Specification 2,141,387.
