Abstract
364,093. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, 13A, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Sept. 23, 1930, No. 28468. Convention date, Jan. 18. [Class 39 (i).] In an electron-discharge tube such as a rectifying tube, the anode or anodes is located in an arm 2 or part of the bulb of restricted cross section, and the part of the anode or anodes which is attached to or comes in contact with a supporting member or other part of the device is connected to the discharge space only by a long path which is of small cross section at at least one place, the anode occupying substantially all the cross section of the arm or extension in the bulb. The lead-in 4 to the anode 3 passes through a sleeve 5 of steatite which is attached to the anode in its upper bored extremity, and, in Fig. 2, a spider 9 carries centrally-perforated spaced mica discs 8 which surround the anode 3 and may leave only a small clearance 10. In Fig. 4, the anode is closely surrounded by the wall of the arm 2 which is provided with an enlargement 11 just below and at the active part of the anode which may be hollowed out to increase the active area. In Fig. 5 the anode is provided with a shoulder 13 and flange 12 in which the flange 14 of a mica member 1 depends, the member 8 being carried on a spider 9.
