Abstract

805,785. Cathode-ray tubes. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO. Ltd. March 6, 1956 [June 10, 1955], No. 16831/55. Class 39(1). A pre-focussing electrode system designed to precede the main focussing system comprises a cap-shaped anode C1 with a bottom aperture C3, a pre-focussing electrode I fixed, as by peripheral tags 3, to an insulating annulus 4 spacing and insulating it from the sides of the anode and further insulating means, such as discs 5, 8, on both sides of the electrode, the whole being held within the anode by member 9 fitting into and secured to the open end of the anode. A metal spacing ring 6 may also be provided. Lead 7 to the electrode 1 passes out through a hole in the anode. Inclined corona ring C4 co-operates with an inclined main focussing anode in the usual ion trap arrangement. Both pre-focussing and main lens systems are supported on insulating rods parallel to the tube axis, Fig. 1 (not shown).
