Abstract

592,667. High-frequency discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 24, 1944, No. 20670. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1941. [Class 39 (i)] In a high-frequency electron discharge device, particularly for use with concentric transmission lines, an annular cathode C is integral with or secured to an annular metal disc D, the periphery of which is sealed to and extends beyond the glass envelope B. In .the embodment described, the anode is a thick disc P, parallel to the cathode disc D, welded to a copper sleeve J which is joined to a re-entrant portion of the envelope. The control grid CG has a lead GL extending through the central aperture in the cathode. The screen-grid SG is connected to an annular plate separated from the cathode disc by a layer of dielectric constituting a byepass condenser BP. The suppressor-grid SP is tied directly at one or more points to the cathode disc.
