Abstract
618,180. Making thermionic valve grids. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Oct. 30, 1946, No. 32271. Convention date, April 21, 1945. [Class 83 (ii)] [Also in Group XL (a)] A high-frequency electric discharge device of the type disclosed in Specification 584,787, [Croup XL], has a disc 1 carrying an anode 12, a disc 2 carrying a cylindrical mounting 30 within which grid member 27 is welded after being correctly spaced, and a disc 3 against which bears flanged member 15 supporting via cylindrical member 22 the cathode disc 21. The grid consists of a cylinder 27 with an inward flange 28<SP>1</SP> at one end, across which the grid wires extend. The flange is subsequently depressed or dished to tighten the grid wires. The grid-supporting cylinder 27 or its cylindrical mounting 30 or both extend downwards sufficiently to shield insulating cylinder 5 from deposition of material vaporized from the cathode.
