Abstract

587,014. Cathode-ray tubes. REED, J. Sept. 15; 1944, No. 17649. [Class 39 (i)] A cathode, particularly for a cathode-ray tube, comprises a dished metal element 5 enclosing a heater 9 and secured to an insulating closure member 7 which is provided with a plurality of projections protruding beyond the periphery of the dished element and spacing the cathode from a metal sleeve. Tags or lugs 8 on the dished element 5 fit into recesses in the insulating plate 7 and are bent over to engage the underside of the plate 7. The plate 7 is preferably of equilateral triangular shape with the apices truncated to conform to a circle and may be mounted, as shown in Fig. 4, in a grid sleeve 12, the elements 14, 15, 16 serving to space the cathode from the end of the sleeve.
