Abstract

744,769. Thermionic valves. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. March 5, 1953 [March 13, 1952], No. 6178/53. Class 39 (1). An anode shield for an electron power tube having an external tubular anode 11 has an anode shield consisting of a metallic flange in the form of a flat ring 29 joined to one end of the anode and extending radially inward, and the control grid 3 has an apertured portion extending between the flange and the supporting arms 51 of the cathode. The flange is so positioned as to shield the insulating section 19 of the envelope and also portions of the grid supports 5 and 9 external to the anode from direct heating by radiation from the cathode and by electron bombardment. The remainder of the construction is as described in Specification 744,766.
