Abstract
788,328. Thermionic valves. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO., Ltd. May 4, 1956 [June 30, 1955], No. 18925/55. Class 39(1). A gas filled discharge tube having a main cathode 1 adapted to be heated by alternating current, a control grid 5 and an anode 7, is proving with an auxiliary cathode located out of the magnetic field produced by the application of current to the heater 2 and adapted to emit electrons when the tube is at normal operating temperature. As shown the auxiliary cathode comprises a layer 9 of emissive material on an annulus fitted into the end of the heat shield 8 encircling the main cathode 1.
