Abstract
651,012. Cathode-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL, Ltd. April 6, 1948, No. 9661. Convention date, April 9, 1947. [Class 39 (i)] A directional electron beam from a cathode 2, Fig. 1, is subjected to the action of two field electrodes, e.g. the control grid 6 and the anode 3, enclosed within an insulating casing 1 which is near the control grid, and a screen 8, unconnected with any supply, extends from the casing into the space between the field electrodes so as to prevent electrons from the control grid being drawn to the casing by static charges produced thereon, e.g. by the anode. A further screen 9, Fig. 2, may be provided. The anode is preferably supported by springs 5 bearing on a metallic lining extending over part of the casing 1. The tube is preferably a television receiving cathode-ray tube.
