Abstract
662,433. Electron discharge apparatus. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Aug. 27, 1948 [Sept. 2, 1947], No. 24197/48. Class 39 (i). The anode is hollow and indented to partially surround the cathode, the outer wall providing a closed eddy current heating loop in any plane perpendicular to the cathode axis. In one form of thermionic rectifier, two hollow rectangular anodes 15, with an indirectly-heated cathode 22, are mounted between mica discs 14, 18. The anode is supported on leading-in wires and secured to the discs 14, 18 through lugs 16. A getter assembly 23 is welded to the anode lug 24. In a further form, two separate cathodes, connected together internally or externally of the envelope, are each completely surrounded by an anode, which is formed of two of the anodes 15 welded together. The anode arrangement shown in Fig. 6 may be used to form the two diodes of a double-diode triode having a single cathode.
