Abstract
585,190. Cathode-ray tubes. STAN. DARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Oct. 27, 1944, No. 21024. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1943. [Class 39 (i)] An electrode assembly for a cathode-ray tube comprises an electron gun with cathode support 7, grid, 8, preaccelerating anode 9, first anode 10 and second anode 11, connected and spaced by straps 12 to hollow ceramic tubes 5 and 6 round conducting rods 3 and 4 supported between two insulating discs 1 and 2. The disc 2 is provided with eyelets 45, 46, 47, 53 and 54, as in Fig. 4, (not shown), to accommodate termi. nal leads 48, 49, 50, 51 and 52 respectively tc the ring 7, grid 8, first anode 10, and to the two terminals of the heater strip 55 for the cathode within the grid 8. Deflecting plates 24 and 25 are supported in mica disc 1 by pairs of conducting rods 22, 22<1>, the plates being electrically connected tc conducting rods 32 and 33 fixed between the discs 1 and 2 by leads 34 and 35 on opposite sides of the mica disc 1, as shown. A second pair of deflecting plates 18 are similarly supported and connected. The disc 1 has projections and slots into which hook-spring steel strips 30 to contact the neck of the vessel in the usual manner. A fifth conductor rod between the two discs is connected to one of the strips 30 by a lead 41, and to the electrode 9 by a lead 42, Fig. 2, (not shown). The other metal strips 30 are connected by leads to the second anode 11.
