Abstract

666,152. Electric discharge tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and FOULKES; C. H. Feb- 15, 1949, No. 4102/49. Class 39 (i). In an electric discharge tube, a copper conductor connects the grid support rods to one or more of the lead-out pins to enable a reduction in the working temperature of the grid to be attained. In the Figure, the valve comprises insulating platforms 1. 2 supporting and locating an indirectly heated cathode 3, a control grid 4 mounted on supportrods 5, 6, a screen grid 7 mounted on supportrods 8, 9, a suppressor grid 10 mounted on support-rods 11, 12, and anode assembly 13 and a getter assembly 18. The valve has a moulded glass base 20 with lead-out pins 21 sealed therethrough. The anode 13 is connected to its pin by a stout wire 23 and the screen grid and suppressor grid support rods are connected by nickel tape connections 24, 25. Electrical and thermal contact with the control grid is effected by a copper strip 26 which is preferably nickel plated so it may be welded to the control grid support-rods 5, 6 and one or more of the pins 21. Copper connections may also be provided for the screen and suppressor grids and cooling fins 17 may be welded to the support-rods 5, 6.
