Abstract

607,058. Thermionic valves. RAYTHEON MANUFACTURING CO. Jan. 24, 1946, No. 2359. Convention date, Jan. 27, 1945. [Class 39(i)] An electron discharge device has anodes 6, 8, Fig. 3, on each side of the cathode 4, a spacecharge grid 10 surrounding the cathode, and between the spacecharge grid and each anode parallel control grids 12, 14 which partially overlap each other. The electrodes are spaced by mica spacers 16, 18, Fig. 1, provided with resilient projections engaging the envelope wall. The anode plates 6, 8 are each mounted on a frame 22 of nickel wire. The anode plates-may have marginal grooves to receive the side arms 26, 28 of the frame 22. The control grids 12, 14 are supported by rods 40, 42 and 44, 46 respectively. The filamentary cathode 4 is welded at one end to a spring member 48, maintaining the cathode in an apex of the triangular slot 58, Fig. 3, in each of the mica spacers 16, 18.
