Abstract
586,351. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., SMYTH, C. N., and WADE, A. S. Dec. 8, 1943, No. 20559. [Class 39 (i)] A thermionic valve comprises an envelope 12 divided into two portions by a metal disc 10 sealed therethrough, one portion containing the cathode and grid mounted between mica strips 6 and 7 and the anode 8 and 9 is mounted on disc 10. A getter holder 14 may be mounted on the other side of the disc where it is electrically screened from the valves electrodes. The holder 14 is inserted through a slot in plate 10 and its supporting wire 18 then welded 'in place. The anode is made up'of sheet metal strips which may have tongues to engage support means at the ends. In a modification, electrodes for an entirely separate valve are assembled in the upper compartment. The device may be combined with resonators 30 and 31 to form a high-frequency oscillator. A lead 41 to the control grid of the valve 34 is lead through the hollow inner wall 40 of resonator 30. The cathode heater connection 45 passes in a similar manner through the other resonators. In a modification, the resonators are arranged one inside the other.
