Abstract

720,606. Thermionic valves. RADIO CORPORATION OF AMERICA. April 17, 1952 [April 28, 1951], No. 9732/52. Class 39 (1) In an electron discharge tube, the active grid opening is formed by a slot or slots 21, 22 in a plate 19, Fig. 2, and the active anode surfaces are formed by the front edges 29, 30 of the anode section, Fig. 3, the edges and slots being in register. In Fig. 5, 14 is one of a pair of mica spacers and has two slots 34, 35 extending inwards from the periphery. The filamentary cathodes 17, 18 are slid into position laterally from the side of the assembly, and are located, by bearing against the ends of the slots, in register with the grid openings and the anode edges. Two grid plates 19, 20 are provided, each having a pair of slots 21, 22; the ends of these plates are winged backwards, as at 23, 24, to facilitate insertion of the filaments, which are tensioned at the upper end. The two anode sections 16, 16a are secured to the micas by ears 33, so that the anode edges are firmly supported at a predetermined small distance from the grid slots.
