Class 39(1) A half grid for an electric discharge tube is formed with lateral wire 32 wound on rods 33, 34, the wire being deformed to produce a single surface to one side of the plane containing the rods. The major portion of the grid wire may occupy a plane, Fig. 5, or the surface of a cylinder, Fig. 6. The use of two half grids in a double triode is mentioned, the valve having a common cathode, indirectly heated, Figs.'1, 2 (not shown).
