Abstract
788,564. Thermionic valves. ENGLISH ELECTRIC VALVE CO., Ltd. May 15, 1956 [July 13, 1955], No. 20284/55. Class 39(1). In a gas-filled discharge tube of the kind wherein the anode lead 2 is run through an insulating tube 6, part of which is adjacent an electrode or member adapted for operation at a high potential difference with respect to the anode, e.g., the grid top shield 5, the insulating tube is flanged at its end and held positively against the electrode 5 to eliminate the gap X by means of a part 7 fixed to the electrode at 8 and extending over the flanged end of the insulating tube 6. A cushion of wire gauze may be provided between part 7 and the tube 6.
