Abstract

531,904. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and GOODCHILD, F. D. July 11, 1939, No. 20212. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXIX] The envelope comprises a disc base 1 through which the leading-in wires are sealed, a tubular body portion 4 of smaller diameter and having a leading-in wire 5 sealed through the closed end remote from the base, and an annular portion 6 forming a shoulder joining the body and base. The electrode assembly, which may be a pentode arrangement, is mounted between mica discs 8, 9 and metal shielding discs 11, 13, the latter being cupped are fitted on the mica discs. The valve is mounted with the shoulder abutting a rubber &c. ring in an aperture in a metal or metallised plate forming part of the casing in a co-axial-conductor transmission system which lies substantially in the plane of the shielding disc 13. The leading-in wire 5 may be connected to the anode or the control grid, and the other leading-in wires are sealed in the base by glass beads 3 on the inside thereof.
