681,649. Thermionic valves. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Jan. 5, 1951 [Jan. 10, 1950], No. 433/51. Class 39(i) A thermionic valve has an outer metal anode 1, a cathode 12 of parallel wires or rods supported from two discs 8, 10, or rings sealed in the tube wall, and a control grid 18 supported on a ring 16 by radial spokes from a central support rod 15 sealed to the end wall of the tube. The ring 16 should be near the end of the cathode or near a substantially non-emissive part of it. The cathode wires 12 may be secured to the flattened wires side of stay rods 11. A screen grid 6 may be provided and may be supported from a copper disc 4.
