Abstract

582,021. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. May 24, 1944, No. 10103. Convention date, Dec. 24, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] The anode comprises a ring 12 surrounding the grid joined by a curved member 36 to a parallel extension 28 projecting through the envelope, and sealed thereto by knife-edges 32, 34. The axial displacement of the parts 12, 28 reduces anode-grid capacity. The grid consists of spaced tantalum wires 14 supported by a metal cylinder 23 connected to a disc 24 sealed between the glass sections 22, 26. The cathode is a filament 16 connected to spaced leads 18 and a central lead 20. In a modification, the grid connection is at the opposite end of the valve to the cathode connection; in this case the member 36 is oppositely curved so that the lead 28 is above the effective anode part 12. The invention is applicable to valves having more than one grid.
