Abstract

583,260. Thermionic valves. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., BREADNER, R. L., and SIMMS, C. H. May 13, 1942, No. 3315/43. Divided out of 6510/42. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Group XXXVI]. In a thermionic valve adapted to operate at high frequencies, the anode 2 is a substantially straight copper tube whose length considerably exceeds its diameter and which is sealed at each end through the glass envelope 1. The cathode 4 is a tungsten filament and is located at right angles to, and near the anode. The envelope is a cylinder coaxial with and not much greater in diameter than the anode, and has a short side stem 3 in which the cathode is located. When the valve is used in a coaxial line circuit, the anode forms part or a continuation of the inner conductor of the coaxial line. Dimensions of various parts are specified numerically.
