Abstract

713,828. Electric discharge tubes. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 1, 1952 [Sept..1,.1951], No. 21980/52. Class 39(1) [Also in Group XI] The leading-in wires 1 to the main electrodes of high pressure discharge lamps are each provided at their inner end 2 with a small slipover coil 10 of tungsten wire which encloses a'small sliver 11 of thorium metal to increase the electron emission of the electrodes. The parts of the wires intermediate their respective ends are flattened by rolling longitudinally to facilitate sealing into an envelope of quartz or the like (see Group XI). Specifications 472,126 and 474,394, [both in Group XXXVI], are referred to.
