Abstract

579,415. Discharge apparatus. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., NELSON, E. H., and FRANCIS, V. J. Oct. 31, 1941, Nos. 14028 and 14050. [Class 39 (i)] [Also in Groups XI and XXXVI] A lead-in conductor, to be sealed in a vitreous envelope for attachment to an electrode, consists of a thin metal strip having its mid-portion thinner than the end portions which project from the seal, and at least one of the end-portions being slit longitudinally for attachment to the electrode or an external lead. In the form shown, the device comprises a mid-portion 1, to the ends of which are welded strips 2, the composite strip being then bent to a cylindrical form which may be sealed between a quartz tube and a quartz core as described in Specification 489,630. The thickened portions may be produced by folding back the ends of a longer one-piece strip. Specifications 396,103, [Group XI] 472,126 and 474,394, [both in Group XXXVI], also are referred to.
