Abstract
634,443. Quartz-metal seals. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and PEARCE, A. G. Nov. 25, 1946, No. 34861. [Class 36] Two or more mutually insulated conductors 12, 13 are sealed through an envelope by passing all but one of them through different vitreous tubes 14 and then passing each of these tubes and the remaining conductor through an outer vitreous tube 15 and then collapsing all the tubes to form a vacuum-tight seal. The tube 15 is sealed at 'one end 15a and evacuated so that when heated the vitreous tubes collapse on to the wires to form a vacuum-tight seal. The end 15a is then removed to expose the ends of the conductors. If desired all the conductors may be initially inserted in vitreous tubes. Specification 628,254 is referred to.
