Abstract

602,804. Cathode-ray tubes. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and MOSCRIP, W. R. June 22, 1945, No. 15988. [Class 39 (i)] A bulb for a cathode-ray tube has both the body and the screen portions of the bulb constituted by pressed glass mouldings. Two dish-like pressed glass mouldings 1, 2 which are substantially equal to each other in bulk capacity, are fused together around their edges. The portion 1 may have the surface 3 of relatively thin section and be thickened at the shoulders 4 or alternatively if the screen portion is flat it is made relatively thicker than the wall portions. The portion 2 has a shallow protuberance 6 which is broached to fuse in the neck 7, and may have further protuberances 8 and 9. To one of these an exhaust tube 10 may be joined, and the other is to enable the sealing-in of a conductor 11.
