670,430. Cathode-ray tubes. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. May 1, 1947 [June 20, 1946], No. 4747/49. Divided out of 670,411. Class 39 (i). A cathode-ray tube has at least a substantial part of its envelope formed of borosilicate glass having a coefficient of expansion of 33- 35 x 10<SP>-7</SP> approximately, and metal leads having a coefficient of expansion of the order of 49Î10<SP>-7</SP>connected to electrodes sealed in a disc-like glass seal formed of glass having a coefficient of expansion of approximately 47 x 10<SP>-7</SP> or higher, the seal being sealed in the first glass-part by means of at least one additional part of glass having an intermediate coefficient of expansion. In an example the metal and glasses used are identical with those used in the example described in Specification 670,411 which is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 420,634 and to the document " Technical Data on Chance Sealing Glasses (Chance Bros., Ltd., Smethwick, 1944)."
