Abstract
603,834. Condensers. BRITISH THOMSONHOUSTON CO., Ltd., and SCOTT, W. J. Dec. 14, 1945, No. 33936. [Class 37] Condensers with electrodes operating in an evacuated space within a sealed envelope have between the electrodes a solid dielectric consisting of a ceramic material as a slab or powder comprising magnesium dioxide, magnesium silicate or a titanium compound, e.g. titanium dioxide. The ceramic disc 6 is placed between two metal electrodes 2a, 3b forming parts of metal elements 2, 3 the edges of which are sealed into a glass tube 1 or on to a ceramic tube, and the envelope so formed is evacuated through a tube 4 and sealed at 5. Concentric tubular electrodes 11, 12 are connected to connector caps 13, 14 and to metal caps 7, 8 sealed into a glass tube 1b, the envelope so formed being filled with the powdered ceramic 15 and exhausted of air and sealed at 10.
