Abstract

457,221. Thermionic valves. FERRANTI, Ltd., and EVISON, S., Hollinwood, Lancashire. Aug. 15, 1935, No. 22946. [Class 39 (i)] A discharge tube with a conductive coating on the exterior of the envelope is provided with a wire or strip connected at one end directly or indirectly to a terminal of the tube, the other end being bent in such manner as to project above the base and be retained in at least two positions thereby. In the form shown, a tinned copper strip is inserted between the bulb and base of a thermionic valve and the end d is connected to the cathode pin i whilst the bent part of the strip is clamped at two places between the base and the bulb. A metallic coating is then applied to the bulb exterior. The strip may be connected to any desired terminal.
