Abstract
429,010. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. Feb. 25, 1935, No. 6033. Convention date, May 3, 1934. Drawings to Specification. [Class 39 (i)] A tube, such as a lamp having a working temperature over 200‹ C., has an auxiliary electrode of which at least a part bears on the outer side of the tube wall and a material, such as enamel or an oxide layer retaining its insulating properties at a high temperature, is provided between this part and the tube wall. In one form, a U-shaped tube having a filling of neon and sodium has an auxiliary electrode consisting of a metal clip embracing the middle of the tube and a narrow strip parallel to the limbs of the tube which may be connected to one electrode. The clip is coated with an enamel, and the strip may be of aluminium with an oxidized surface. In a modification a wire having an oxidized surface may be wound around the tube.
