July 7, 1931, No. 19577. Convention date, Aug. 21, 1930. [Class 39 (i).] To prevent undue heat losses, a lamp with at least a partial filling of metal vapour and provided with solid electrodes has its main envelope or an additional envelope at least partly coated with a thin transparent metallic coating having a strong absorption in the infra-red. Gold and silver coatings are given as examples, and may be used with sodium and cadmium or mercury fillings respectively.
