Abstract
393,515. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent- Treuhand-Ges. fur Elektrische Gluhlampen, 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) Dec. 19, 1932, No. 35978. Convention date, Dec. 23, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In a lamp of the type in which the electrodes 2, 3 are located at one end thereof and are separated by a partition 4, the partition consists of metal and is of such length that the fall of potential along the whole of that part of the positive column that lies to one side of the partition is less than the sum of the falls of potential at the anode and cathode. The partition consists of gauze or apertured or polished plates 4, 5 which are supported by the glass wall through inturned edges 7, 8 or through springs. It may be supported by a foot-tube through wires, and its edges may be spaced from the glass wall, provided that these spaces are so small that a discharge cannot pass therethrough. The envelope may be transparent to ultra-violet rays or consist of a fluorescing glass.
