Abstract
393,849. Discharge lamps. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London.-(Assignees of Patent- Treuhand-Ges. fur Elektrische Gl³hlampen; 11, Ehrenbergstrasse, Berlin.) Nov. 4, 1932, No. 31170. Convention date, Nov. 25, 1931. Addition to 377,584. [Class 39 (i).] In a tube having a gas and metal vapour filling, the latter assuming during operation a pressure in excess of 30 mm. and having electrodes of low work function heated by the discharge or by a heater , as described in the parent Specification, one or more transverse half-ringed shaped partitions 17, 18 are arranged in the tube. In a tube used with its axis horizontal they are arranged in the upper part of the tube. In addition they may be used as auxiliary electrodes and may be connected by leads 23 encased in quartz tubes 21, 22 on which the rings are mounted, to the main electrodes through resistances 24, 25, which may be the leads 23. In a modification, Fig. 4, the rings 17, 18 are arranged in the same plane and rings 27, 27<1> support the leads 26, 26<1> against shocks. The electrodes 2 are surrounded by shields 9 having apertures 11, which may be connected to the electrodes. The partitions 17, 18 may be made of molybdenum.
