Abstract
585,450. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., GOODCHILD, F. D., and WOLSEY, W. H. Oct. 24, 1941, No. 13729. [Class 39 (i)] In ultra high-frequency electron discharge tubes of the kind described in Specification 585,448, wherein a copper disc 3 is sealed into the envelope to form a screen between the input and output sides of the tube (i) the anode 19 is hand soldered into a thin copper tube 18 sealed into the upper stem and (ii) the grid 5 is mounted on a molybdenum plate 7 carried by four pillars 10 from the lower stems. These pillars also pass through the copper disc 3, fixing collars 15 being welded on the pillars ; two pillars are extended to carry a mica bridge 16, which slides over the anode 19 and centres the grid and anode relatively. The grid is formed by winding wire on two rods 6, cutting the wire away on one side of the rods and then brazing the half grid on the plate. The cathode 12 is carried by a single wire 13 from the lower stem.
