Abstract
357,231. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., Columbia House, Aldwych, London.- (Western Electric Co., Inc. ; 195, Broadway, New York, U.S.A.) June 19, 1930, No. 18703. [Class 39 (i).] Anodes comprise flanged sections 17 with adjacent flanges 18 gripped between the legs of U-shaped wires 15. Some of the wires 15 serve as anode supports and are welded at their lower ends 15a to bands clamped around a re-entrant tube 14. The wires 15 are spot-welded to the flanges 18. The anode sections are of molybdenum roughened by a carborundum blast to increase heat radiation. Anode leads 19 are connected to the wires 15 by bands 20. The tube 14 is sealed to, and surrounds, an outwardly-projecting tube 14a carrying a further reentrant tube ending in a Y-shaped press 13. A second Y-shaped press is provided at the end of the envelope remote from the tube 14. The envelope may be aircooled.
