Abstract

427,664. Discharge apparatus. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London, and SMITHELLS, C. J., c/o General Electric Co., Wembley, Middlesex. Jan. 17, 1934, No. 1688. [Class 39 (i)] [See also Group XXXVI] A shielded lead is manufactured by placing a metal rod or wire in a metal tube, packing the intervening space with insulating material and then reducing the whole by swaging, wiredrawing or the like. In one form, mica sheets 1 support an indirectlyheated cathode 2 and grid posts 4. One of the heater leads 6 is connected to a unit manufactured as above described and comprising a nickel rod 7 separated from an outer nickel tube 8 by alumina 9. The tube 8 is connected to the cathode 2 and cathode lead by a conductor 10, and is supported by the mica sheets 1. The external diameter of the tube 8 need not exceed 0À3 mm.
