Abstract
445,087. Discharge apparatus. BRITISH THOMSON - HOUSTON CO., Ltd., Crown House, Aldwych, London. Sept. 16, 1935, No. 25675. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1934. [Class 39 (i)] A device comprises a metal envelope containing cathode, grid and anode, the leads of which are taken out through the same end of the envelope, and a metal barrier is interposed between the grid and anode leads. In one form, a metal plate 20 is mounted between the anode lead 15 and the leads 12 of the heater, 13 of the cathode 13 and 14 of the grid. The plate 20 may be welded to the metal envelope 1 and extends from the metal header 2 closing the envelope to the lower of two mica spacers 9. The screen grid posts 8 carry caps 11, the lower of which is in contact with the shield 20 and therefore with the envelope. The shield 20 may be insulated from the screen grid or the envelope or both and given any desired potential. A shield 21 outside the envelope may further screen the leads. In a modification, a flat plate may be used, engaging a flat member closing the envelope and the underside of the lower plate 11.
