Abstract
567,683. Metal-vapour apparatus. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. June 11, 1943, No. 9414. Convention date, June 17, 1942. [Class 39 (i)] The bottom 11 .of the meta envelope 10 of a pool cathode electric discharge device form the container for the pool o mercury and is provided in tegrally with a stamped-up projection 24, preferably conical, which is used to in dicate the level of the poo surface. A tubulation 25 is welded or brazed to the top o: the projection to drain the mercury away to its requirec level and is then closed by pinching at 27. The envelope bottom may also be formed with a recess 23 to provide additional depth of mercury at the immersion ignition elec trode 18. The leads to the electrode 18 and anode 13 consist of rods 19, 14, taken through glass seals 20, 15 to metal caps 21, 16 and wires 22, 17.
