Abstract
383,530. Discharge lamps. DOBRUSSKIN, S., 20, Hochstrasse, Berlin. April 7, 1932, No. 9979. Convention date, Dec. 18, 1931. [Class 39 (i).] In a cathodeglow discharge lamp with cold electrodes for advertising and signalling purposes &c., the cathode m is mounted on a pillar d<2> and the lead is taken out centrally through a glass tube c ; the cathode may be constructed of highly - polished aluminium or of iron with a polished or oxidized surface. The anode o consists o f a plate spaced away from the cathode by thin solid insulation p and supported on a flange b<3> with insulation r<2> interposed. The anode lead g contains a resistance i and is taken through the tube b. A lug ol is stamped out of' the anode o, enabling the latter to pass over a pip b<2> and the lead g is sealed into the pip b<2> and welded to the lug o<1>. In a modification the electrode o has an upturned end. In another modification the electrode edge is turned upward and inward and the electrode m has an outwardly-turned edge. In operation the cathode glow moves with a circular or oscillatory rotary motion over the cathode surface. The bulb may be filled with 80 parts of neon and 20 parts of helium and argon. Instead of or in addition to the argon, krypton or xenon may be used. A suitable pressure is 10-15 mm. and preferably 10-12 mm.
