Abstract

390,041. Discharge apparatus. TECHNIK & INVESTMENT AKT.-GES., Vaduz, Liechtenstein. July 20, 1932, No. 20542. Convention date, July 30, 1931. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v).] A glow-discharge tube connected to a source of alternating current and controlled by light, has one or more external electrodes which are earthed, insulated or maintained at a potential or phase differing from those of the anode, and are so disposed as to suppress a discharge, the light serving to start the discharge. The tube has a filament cathode 6 connected with one transformer secondary 2, the centre part of which is earthed, an anode 5 connected through an indicating device 4 with one end of another secondary, an internal sheath 7 and an external electrode 9 connected with one end of a third secondary 3. An additional earthed external electrode 10 may be provided which re-starts the discharge when moved towards the tube ; or the tube may be surrounded by an earthed conducting cage 11 acting as a shield against the influence of movable earthed or non-earthed conductors.
