Abstract
559,666. Converting. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC INTERNATIONAL CO. Nov. 20, 1942, No. 16431. Convention date, Nov. 26, 1941. [Class 38 (ii)] In a polyphase converter comprising valves 15 of the immersion igniter type wherein the ignition electrodes 18 are fed from independent secondary windings on a transformer 20 through a wavedistorting network 22, 23, 24 and through asymmetric conducting devices 25, 26, anode shields or transfer electrodes 17 are energized from the same network through connections which byepass the devices 25 so that as the arc is picked up by an anode shield, the corresponding ignition electrode is relieved of current.
