Abstract

415,165. Sealing leading - in wires into vitreous envelopes. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. March 13, 1933, No. 7580. Convention date, March 12, 1932. [Class 39 (ii).] In electric discharge tubes wherein the current supply wires to electrodes are led into the tube by means of one or more metal discs or the like connected to the tube wall, rigid terminal or connecting-members for the tube are secured directly to the metal discs or the like without the insertion of a cap. The example shows a rectifier tube 1 provided at one end with a cathode 4 connected to leading- in wires 3 which pass through metal discs 2 sealed into the tube, the other end of the tube being provided with similar discs 2, Fig. 2 (not shown), through which pass leading-in wires 5 to a pair of anodes 6. Rigid connecting members 12 for the cathode leads 3 are welded directly to the discs 2 at that end, while rigid members 13 carrying screwed terminals 14 are welded to the discs at the other end. Alternatively, the leading-in wires, metal discs, and external connecting-members may be constructed to form a unitary piece. To prevent possible breakdown between the various leading-in wires, the metal discs are coated with glass on their inner sides in the manner described in Specification 415,166.
