415,166. Discharge apparatus. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN, Emmasingel, Eindhoven, Holland. March 13, 1933, No. 7581. Convention date, March 12, 1932. [Class 39 (i).] Electric discharge vessels, rectifying valves, and electric incandescent lamps are provided with metal leading-in discs or plates which are coated partly or wholly, at least on the inside of the tube, with a glass layer which constitutes the union between the glass wall of the tube and one or more tubular or rod-shaped glass members. In the example, the tube 1 of a rectifying valve has metal plates or discs 2, which may consist of ferrochrome, sealed into its opposite ends, the leading-in wires 3 to the cathode 4 being introduced through the discs at the top end, and leading-in wires 5 to a pair of graphite anodes 6 being introduced through discs 2 at the bottom end. The metal discs 2 are covered on the inside surface with a glass layer 9 which, at the upper end of the tube, is extended outwardly between the discs to form an exhausting-tube 10. At the other end of the tube the glass layer 9 merges into tubular glass members 11 surrounding the anode leading-in wires 5 and, in addition, a glass rod 15 merged into the glass layer carries a support 16 for a screen 7 disposed between the anodes, together with a mica protecting-plate 17. The anode leading-in wires pass through a cap 12 provided with connecting members 13 and terminals 14, a screw-threaded cap being mounted on the other end of the tube.
