525,380. Sealing metal to vitreous material. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and BREADNER, R. L. Feb. 20, 1939, No. 5604. [Class 36] In the course of capping an electrode 1 passing through a vitreous envelope 2 such as a cathode-ray tube, the steps taken are:- 1. fusing a mass of material 4 about the electrode, 2. placing- a perforated cap 5 over the electrode, 3. heating the cap and the mass so that the rim is embedded, and 4. making a metallic connection between the electrode and the cap, as by melting at 7. Specification 471,301 is referred to.
