[Class 36] [Also in Group XXIII] Relates to the method described in the parent Specification of sealing a rod of quartz into the quartz envelope of a HPMV lamp. The rod may be traversed by a leading-in conductor. The rod 1 is surrounded by a relatively thin ring 12 which is sealed around or into a relatively thin tube 13 that projects from the envelope 11, a sharp angle 9 being formed between the two rings. The joint is thickened by a " wrapping " 8 of quartz.
