574,731. Uniting metal to glass. M-O VALVE CO., Ltd., and TREMLETT, L. Feb. 14, 1944, No. 2742. [Class 36] A seal between a copper plate 2 and a glass tube 1 is effected by means of a collar 3 of nickel-iron or like metal having its plain tubular portion 4 sealed to the glass and its flanged end 5 soldered &c. to the plate. The metal used for the collar 3 is of similar thermal expansion as the glass ; and, the solder used is preferably of hard character, e.g., substantially wholly of copper and silver. Specifications 392,421 and 448,727, [both in Group XI], are referred to.
