Abstract

595,387. Metal-to-glass seals. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd., and BILLINGS, W. A. June 15, 1945, No. 15249. [Class 36] A conductor 1 is sealed to a portion 3 of a glass tube 5 on which a bulbous portion 4 is then blown into sealing-contact with a metal ring 2. The latter may form part of a surrounding vacuumenvelope. In the form shown a reinforcing metal sleeve 7 is brazed to the conductor at the sealing- zone 3. The seal between the ring 2 and the glass may be of the kind described in Specification 202,047, [Class 36].
