1,127,607. Glass to metal seals; glass compositions. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 3 Dec., 1965 [3 Dec., 1964], No. 49132/64. Heading C1M. [Also in Division H1] A glass frit 4 for sealing a glass membrane 1 to a steel supporting ring 2 in an electron discharge device (see Division H1) consists of red lead, boric acid and silica in the ratios of 5 : 2 : 1 by weight. Before use the materials are fused to form a glass by heating at 900‹ to 950‹ C. and are powdered when cool. The frit seal 4 is protected by a ring shield 9 of soft metal foil which is clamped between the ring 2 and a retaining ring 10 and extends inwardly to contact the glass membrane 1.
