Abstract

832,399. X-ray tubes. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 16, 1957 [July 19, 1956], No. 22511/57. Class 39(1). [Also in Group XX] The metal protecting envelope 1 for the glass-walled X-ray tube 2 is filled with oil and has an insulating re-entrant window 5 at least partially filled with insulating material 8 providing a large number of separate air pockets. The window 5 can be of casting resin or moulded insulating material and the insulating material 8 can be granular or of foamy structure such as foamed polystyrene. The material 8 can project beyond the wall of the envelope 1. The window 5 is mounted by a plate 9 sealed to the envelope 1, a clamping member 11 and a sealing ring 10.
