[Class 36] The seal as claimed in claim 3 of the parent Specification is modified by the provision of a sleeve 9 of vitreous material, such as quartz of substantially the same co-efficient of thermal expansion as the tube 2 and rod 6, the sleeve having the tube 2 collapsed on to it to separate from the outer space the join between the metallic ribbon 4 and the leading-in wire 7.
