Abstract
580,839. Discharge lamps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. March 19, 1943, No. 19849/45. Convention date, March 26, 1942. Divided out of 580,406. [Class 39 (i)] Electric discharge lamps comprise a tubular glass envelope 10 which is sealed at one end by a metal disc 12 carrying the contact pins 13 to which the electrode 11 is secured, and also having an exhaust tube 14 sealed through it. The other end of the envelope may be sealed with a similar disc without the exhaust tubulation. The discs may be strengthend by circularly embossing them as at 19. The contact pins are sealed into depressions 16, by glass beads 15, and the metal used is chosen so as to match the co-efficient of expansion of the glass of the envelope and seals.
